Summer Camp Staff OpportunitiesDo you or anyone you know want to be a part of the Simon Kenton Council Camp Staff? We can always use more good Scouts and Scouters to join our staff family. If you are interested please contact the council service center (614-436-7200) to request an application, download an application from our website, get it from the appendix or we always have some available upon request at camp. It’s the best possible way to spend a summer and is excellent experience for many different kinds of jobs later on in life. Summer Camp Staff Applications Now Being AcceptedThe Simon Kenton Council is now accepting applications for positions at all of our Summer Camps. The following positions are available at most camp: Responsible for all details such as financial records, orders
for program equipment, stocking and operating the trading post, health &
safety, program concepts & content, and upkeep of equipment and facilities.
Directly responsible for all administrative and financial parts of the camp
including: trading post, dining hall, and registration. Hires staff and releases
staff members. Member of Assistant
Responsible for all delegated duties from
the Program Director Responsible for the coordination of all
Scout programs, staff training, OA operations and utilization of equipment and
facilities. Must have in depth working knowledge of Scouting. Member of Operations Director Responsible for all financial aspects of
camp operations including: trading post, registration, dining hall fees, and
supply orders. The Operations Director shall have an in-depth knowledge
of: trading post operations, State and BSA standards and requirements. Is also
responsible for daily receipts and deposits. Prior camp experience required.
Member of Responsible for troop/patrol program
development to ensure that the unit has a well-rounded camp experience. Provides ad-hoc program activities to address special camper needs
including skills presentations, hikes, special tours and leadership skills.
Must have in-depth knowledge of the Scouting program and camp operation. Works
with adult leaders to resolve issues within camp. Helps to facilitate the
provisional troop experience. Works with Ecology/Conservation
Director to implement conservation projects. Is responsible for adult
and youth leader programs and facilitates leader roundtables, SPL meetings and
inter-unit activities as assigned by the Program Director. Is responsible for
troop campsite evaluations and administers troop/patrol awards programs.
Oversees CITs. Oversees the volunteer Commissioner staff. Is at least 18 years
old. Clerk/Office Manager Is responsible for the day-to-day
operations of the Trading Post Manager Responsible for all merchandise and profits and losses incurred in Trading Post operation. Should have retail sales experience and must be at least 18 years old. Reports to the Business Manager. Health Officer Responsible for taking care of all camp
injuries and illnesses. Chief medical and safety advisor for the Dining Hall Steward Assists in the food preparation and clean up as assigned. Is responsible for the supervision of the Kitchen and Dining Hall Staff. Responsible for dining hall orientation for units checking into camp. 16 years old. Reports to the Head Cook. Outdoor Skills Director Responsible for the development, coordination and teaching of the: First Year Camper, Scoutcraft Area, and Handicraft Area Programs. He is the supervisor of the entire Scoutcraft Area. Teaches camping, cooking, pioneering, orienteering, wilderness survival, leather craft, pottery, basketry, etc. merit badges. Reports to the Program Director. Must be 18 years old. Handicraft Director Teaches leather working, basketry, Indian lore, and pottery merit badges. Responsible to the Program Director. 18 years old. Shooting Sports Director Responsible for all activities in bb,
rifle, shotgun, and archery areas. Must be Aquatics Director Responsible for all safety, equipment,
staff and program at the swimming pool and waterfront areas. Must be
A.R.C., W.S.I./Lifeguard, and/or Waterfront Instructor Responsible to the Aquatics Director for areas of Aquatics
Program assigned. Must be BSA Lifeguard certified or A.R.C., W.S.I./Lifeguard
or Ecology/Conservation Director Responsible for all conservation projects, nature and ecology merit badges, and special campsite improvement projects. Must be taking collegiate courses in, pursuing a career in Nature/Ecology Area or BSA Camp School Certified in Nature, preferred. 18 years old. Reports to the Program Director. COPE Director Plans Project COPE program in accordance
with BSA policy and procedures. 21 years old. Program Aides, Administrative Aides, Dining Hall Staff Responsible for all tasks assigned by your
area director. This includes: the development of lesson plans, kitchen
operations, merit badge teaching, safety procedures, etc. Also responsible for
participation in evening and special programs. Report to their own Area
Director. All other aides and assistants need to be 16 years old.
Counselor In Training (CIT) A and B Responsible to the Program Director, CIT B's will be assigned to specific program areas. CIT A's assignments will be rotated on a daily or weekly basis depending on the number of CIT's in camp. They will receive experience in Aquatics, Scoutcraft, Nature, Trading Post and Dining Hall. Room and Board, staff gifts and accessories are the only form of compensation. 14 & 15 years old.
