Friends of Scouting Campaign (FOS)

Over 25% of the funding for the Simon Kenton Council is generated by direct donations to our Friends of Scouting Campaign.  Your support allows for us to provide:

1.  Camping Facilities including Camp Lazarus right here in Delaware County
2.  Liability and Accident Insurance to our Scout Units
3.  Scholarships, Registration Funds, Uniforms, and Handbooks to underprivileged youth
4.  Promotional and training materials to our Scout units
5.  Professional support and Service Center to Scout Volunteers

The 3 Campaigns:
The District FOS Campaign:  District level volunteers support
The Family Friends of Scouting Campaign:  Parents and volunteer Support
The Community Friends of Scouting Campaign:  Support from local businesses, community groups, and individuals

Congratulations and Thank You!  We continue we hit our Friends of Scouting goal again in 2007 thanks to the generosity of all of our volunteers and donors.  We will look for your continued support in 2008 to make sure we have the resources necessary to put on a great Scouting program in our council and district.

Silver Paddle Canoe Race & Hike-A-Thon
This is our annual special event to help promote Scouting and raise funds for our community friends of Scouting Campaign.  It is a wonderful opportunities for Scouts, Scouters and the community to come have fun and fellowship while supporting the young people in the Scouting program.  Please get signed up to race early and encourage everyone you know to do the same.  Go to www.silverpaddle.org for more information.

James E. West Fellowship Award

James E WestThis award is given to those individuals who have made a contribution of $1,000 or more to the endowment fund of the Simon Kenton Council or have had such a donation made on their behalf.  It is a wonderful way to honor a long time Scout volunteer, retiring Cubmaster, Scoutmaster or Committee Chair.  In addition this makes a wonderful present to the Scouter or Eagle Scout who already has everything.  The designation come with a certificate, knot, and pin for the honoree.  These gifts support Scouting in perpetuity by the interest they create to fund Scouting now and forever.  To find out more about honoring someone with this award or becoming a James E.
