What is it?

Specific leader training for troop committee members.

How long is it?

Three hours.

Who attends?

The course is designed for Troop committee members, Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters.

Course format:

Multiple presentations using lecture, discussion, group activities, and video.

Learning Objectives:

Presentation 1: "Troop Committee Challenge Training"

  • Explain the aims and methods of Scouting.
  • List the three major components of Scouting: administration, adult leaders, and youth leaders.
  • Describe the twelve elements that make up Boy Scouting.

Presentation 2: "The Role of the Troop Committee"

  • List the major duties of a troop committee.

Presentation 3: "Roles and Responsibilities: Training Troop Committee Members by Position"

  • Identify the responsibilities of each troop committee member.
  • Discuss the importance of each troop committee position in Boy Scouting.

Presentation 4: "Delivering the Promise"

  • Describe how to efficiently conduct a troop committee meeting.
  • Discuss how troop committee members work together to assure the delivery of a quality program to Boy Scouts.
