SCOUTING'S CENTENARY CELEBRATION

In 2007, Scouting celebrates its worldwide Centenary. This is an opportunity to promote the values, benefits and achievements of Scouting to the world, and also for the millions of Scouts around the world to make a real difference in the lives of others through their Centenary activities.

The single theme for all events and activities for the Centenary of Scouting is:

One World One Promise

The Simon Kenton Council’s Centenary Celebration will be held the weekend of May 4 - 6, 2007 at the Ross County Fair Grounds in Chillicothe, Ohio. We encourage you to send in your registrations early so you can join in the fun and excitement of the ultimate scouting experience as the Simon Kenton Council helps the world celebrate, “Scoutings Centenary Celebration.” There will be specific programming such as shooting sports, rappelling, climbing, pioneering, scouting museum, zip lines, and service projects that will benefit the community to work on.

On Saturday the day will begin with “Scoutings Sunrise” in the grandstand and after the cooking fires die down, the evenings activities will begin with some special surprises, Order of the Arrow dancers and end with a stunning display of fireworks.

We hope to make this a “Mountain Top” experience for all Scouts and Scouters, and Non-Scouters too. The Simon Kenton Council is opening the celebration up to the general public on Saturday during the day and evening. Out of Council scouting units are also welcome to join in the weekend long experience. The activity program is at the heart of the celebration experience. During the day, participants will experience a wide range of activities which will in turn inspire them, challenge them, and thrill them.

Check this web site frequently to get all the latest information on programming and special guests as they are booked.
