We train youths, adults, and scout leaders in a standard
methodology of rappelling, so that they can take their own troops
rappelling. To this end, we hold rappelling leadership training
clinics biannually--typically the third weekend of May and third
weekend of September.
The Clinic
- What: A weekend training clinic combining rappelling
skills with fun and fellowship.
- Who: For adults, scouts (14 and older), and troop
leadership.
- Where: Camp Falling Rock, Licking County, Ohio. Meet in
the Dining Hall.
- When: Friday evening (7:00 p.m.) through Sunday
afternoon (3:00 p.m.), typically the third weekend of May and
third weekend of September
- Why: The objectives of the Rappelling Clinic are
two-fold:
- To help young scouts and novices learn safe and proper
rappelling techniques.
- To qualify the more experience participants as Rappel
Masters.
- How: To be qualified as a Rappel Master, an individual
must pass the intern portion of the program. Individuals must be
able to demonstrate the skills taught in this course to qualify as
a Rappel Master. This usually requires 2 to 4 weekends.
- Rappel Master: An individual who is qualified to lead
his unit on rappelling outings. A Rappel Master will be required
to file a permit for rappelling outings.
