A new Cub Scouting program is launching June 1, 2015, that will be more fun and exciting for boys, and easier to implement for unit leaders. A number of webcasts were hosted on January 17 to outline the coming changes, how to prepare, and when resources will be available. The webcasts are still available for those who missed them on January 17! Although the content will be geared to the roles listed, anyone with an interest in learning about the new Cub Scouting program is welcome to view the webcasts! New Cub Scouts Shooting Sports Awards

Take aim at fun and excitement in your council with the new Cub Scouts Shooting Sports Awards. The awards, which are available for immediate use, will be offered in three disciplines: BBs, Archery and Slingshots. Councils may choose to offer one or more of the disciplines. Insignia will arrive in national Scout Shops (and is available for wholesale customers) this month. With rank-specific requirements and insignia, there is incentive for boys to earn the awards year after year at camp. The requirements are attached for your reference. A communications plan will begin this week to launch the program, but please feel free to share the requirements with your staff and volunteers. BSA and American Red Cross Agreement

We are excited to announce an updated memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been completed between the American Red Cross (ARC) and the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). The update strengthens and expands the existing relationship with additional services available to the BSA’s local councils, including units at a discount via Full-Service Training agreements as well as the more traditional Authorized Provider agreements for Scouters who are already ARC instructors or want to become one to teach Scouts or Scouters.
