are invited to the

Buckeye District
Turtle Camporee
April 25-26, 2009

The Turtle Camporee has been a tradition in Buckeye District for over 40 years. It has been held every four years since 1961. Participants will hike in approximately 9 miles on Saturday morning and then out about 8 miles on Sunday. The trail is famous for being uphill on the way in and also on the way out.

In additon to the hiking option, qualified Scouts and leaders can choose to either bike or canoe instead. Note that reservations must be made by April 10 for the biking or canoeing options.

Informational sessions will be held each month at Buckeye District Roundtable through the April Roundtable. You are also encouraged to view the "Turtle Tips" posted on this website to help your unit prepare for the camporee. Additional information is included in the Camporee Bulletin (also posted on this website). Updates to the bulletin will be posted as they become available.

The camporee fee is $14.00 for all Scouts and Scouters. There will be an additional $3.75 fee for canoeing to cover the cost of the canoes. The fees cover all activities, canoeing, biking, council liability insurance, a neckerchief for everyone attending, a Turtle Medal for those completing the trail, and a Camporee Ribbon for each participating unit.

If you have questions, contact Tom Pauling, Boy Scout Activities Chairman.
