September is the beginning of a completely NEW Roundtable format. Each month you will choose
two classes to attend from a selection of several options. There will be something for everyone,
no matter what your leadership position.
September classes: Pack Record Keeping, Pack Finances, Planning for a Successful Den
Year, Recruiting Volunteers, Planning for a Successful Webelos Year, and Geocaching.

Green Bar Begins September 13
Green Bar, enhanced training for Boy Scout leaders, begins on September 13! Get registered NOW
so you don't miss out. Green Bar offers all of the basic training modules designated for Scoutmasters,
Assistant Scoutmasters, and Troop Committee members. Webelos leaders and interested parents are
also invited to attend.

Keep Columbus Beautiful Kickoff-Rally

Is your unit looking for a conservation service project?
Simon Kenton Council has partnered with the Keep Columbus Beautiful city program to join forces for a
"Clean & Green Community Service Jamboree".
Join hundreds of Scouts, Scouters, and local celebrities
for a one-day outdoor urban cleanup and rally on Saturday, October 25 in Dodge Park at 9 AM. Keep Columbus
Beautiful also offers training and workshops for Scout leaders, so you can teach your Scouts about
recycling and waste reduction.

The Buckeye District Advancement Committee will host a Life-to-Eagle Seminar from 10 AM to noon on
Saturday, September 13 at Riverside United Methodist Church, 2701 Zollinger Road in Upper Arlington.

Magic Mountain Fun Night - September 22
Join the fun with fellow Scouts at Magic Mountain Polaris from 5-9 PM on September 22. Scouts
pay $12 for unlimited use of go-karts, putt-putt, laser tag, and select video games. Non-Scouts
can join their Scout friends for $15. Scouts who bring 2 friends play for free!

Scout Transition Training - September 24
Webelos leaders,
Come to Scout Transition Training on September 24 and learn how to plan your year
so your boys will be prepared to earn the Arrow of Light and then cross over to Boy Scouting . This is
a FREE session that will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church in Worthington.

Frontier Olympiad Camporee
October 17-19, 2008
Troops and Venturing Crews,
Mark your calendar for the Buckeye District "Frontier Olympiad" Camporee,
October 17 -19, 2008 at Otter Run Scout Camp. Test your patrol's skills against other Buckeye District
units at the Quadrennial Olympics. Events will include Orienteering, Geocaching, Scout Skills and more.

Tiger Day - November 1, 2008
Tiger Cub parents and leaders,
Join us on November 1 for the 18th annual Buckeye District Tiger Day.
This is the only Buckeye District event JUST FOR TIGERS! We will have 17 activities for you, including
games, crafts, and displays. Tigers who attend will be able to complete 10 Tiger electives and will be
eligible for a Tiger Track bead.
Note the new location for this year is Church of Christ, 1130 Fishinger
Road in Upper Arlington.

Catholic Committee on Scouting 2008-09 Programs
One of the points in the Boy Scout Law is "A Scout is Reverent". To help accomodate a Scout in being
reverent, the Diocese of Columbus Catholic Committee on Scouting offers many programs throughout the year
for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Area 4 Venturing 10th Anniversary Camporee
All Crews & Ships are invited to participate in the Venturing 10th Anniversary Camporee on
October 17-19 at Camp Birch in Southwest Ohio. The camporee will feature many hands-on activities,
fall adventure, fellowship and celebration.

2010 National Jamboree
Plans are underway for Simon Kenton Council to participate in the Boy Scout Centennial
Jamboree on July 26 through August 4, 2010 at Ft. A.P. Hill, Virginia. SKC will be forming
FIVE troops of 36 youth each. Registration is online.
